On August 25, 2026, the 2026 Aviation Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Conference—Special Session on Low-Altitude Aircraft Design and Assembly Technologies—was grandly held at the Hilton Xi’an City Wall. Co-hosted by the Xi’an Aviation Cluster Promotion Organization, the Xi’an Aviation Enterprises Federation, the Yangtze River Delta Large Aircraft Industry Cluster, and other entities, the event brought together experts and representatives from domestic aviation research institutes, prime contractors, and upstream and downstream supporting enterprises to engage in in-depth discussions on hot topics such as the low-altitude economy, unmanned systems, advanced propulsion, and manufacturing and assembly. Shi Yongqiang, General Manager and Founder of Shaanxi Zhongkeyuantai Power Technology Co., Ltd. (Zhongke Power), was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote technical presentation.
This conference focuses on key issues such as the design and development of low‑altitude aircraft, manufacturing and assembly processes, and industrial implementation. As a strategic emerging industry at the national level, the rapid growth of the low‑altitude economy hinges on high‑performance, domestically developed aerospace propulsion systems, which remain the critical bottleneck for scaling up equipment deployment. The triangular rotor engine, with its high power‑to‑weight ratio, low vibration, and superior high‑altitude performance, has emerged as a highly competitive propulsion solution for unmanned aerial vehicles and loitering munitions; however, its engineering and industrialization in China continue to face numerous technical challenges.
At the conference, General Manager Shi Yongqiang delivered a special report titled “Key Technologies for High Power-to-Weight Ratio Domestic Aero‑Rotary Engines and Industrialization Practices for Low‑Altitude Unmanned Platforms.”
Drawing on extensive dynamometer testing and field flight‑test engineering experience, the report systematically analyzes the current state and key challenges of China’s low‑altitude propulsion industry, while providing an in-depth examination of the technical advantages of the triangular rotor engine. It offers a detailed discussion of four core technological breakthroughs—seal reliability, lightweight structural design, full‑range thermal management, and an independently controllable electronic control unit (ECU)—and shares the engineering challenges encountered and the corresponding solutions during the ZKQ series rotor engine’s journey from prototype development to productization.
At the same time, the report objectively analyzes the current real‑world challenges facing domestic rotary‑engine technology, including component‑to‑component batch‑to‑batch consistency, extending overhaul life, fostering a robust supporting industrial chain, and establishing comprehensive testing and standards frameworks. Looking ahead, Zhongke Power has outlined its technological roadmap in areas such as heavy‑fuel rotary engines, rotary‑hybrid range extenders, and hydrogen‑fuel rotary engines, proposing to build an all‑encompassing, multi‑fuel, multi‑scenario power solution centered on rotary‑engine technology, thereby serving diverse applications including industrial drones, loitering munitions, and heavy‑payload unmanned platforms.
“Achieving the 0‑to‑1 breakthrough with a prototype is no easy feat; scaling up to stable, large‑volume delivery—from 1 to 100—presents an even greater challenge. The development of domestically produced aerospace propulsion systems cannot rely on any single company acting in isolation. It requires coordinated collaboration among aircraft manufacturers, research institutes, and supply‑chain partners to jointly strengthen the security of the low‑altitude industry’s supply chain, ensuring that China’s indigenous ‘aviation heart’ can truly soar across the skies.”
—— Shi Yongqiang
As a technology‑driven enterprise deeply rooted in the Xi’an Aviation Industry Base in Shaanxi, Zhongke Power has been steadily advancing the R&D and industrialization of triangular‑rotor aircraft engines. To date, it has completed the development of multiple air‑cooled rotor engines and hybrid range‑extender systems, and has secured letters of intent for orders and strategic partnerships with numerous domestic organizations.
This technical presentation at the national aviation conference represents the industry’s recognition of Zhongke Power’s technological roadmap and engineering achievements. Moving forward, Zhongke Power will remain committed to an engineering‑driven, product‑oriented approach, continuously iterating and enhancing product reliability, expanding its product portfolio, and collaborating with partners across the value chain to support the high‑quality development of China’s low‑altitude economy.
